Pros of Bafang M620 Mid-Drive eBike Motor

  • One of the greatest advantages of the Bafang M620 mid-drive electric bike motor is its power. The motor’s model number is MM G510.750/1000.C and provides either 750W or 1000W of rated power. Watts is a unit of measure that represents the amount of work delivered over a specific time. Hence, the higher the wattage, the greater the amount of work done. So, if we compare the 750 or 1000W motor to a lower-watt eBike motor, the former will likely perform much better. You can definitely see a significant difference between their performances when your electric bike is climbing higher and longer slopes. The Bafang M620 rated power might not be the most powerful among eBike motors, but its power is sufficient enough to propel your electric bike while keeping it street-legal. • Another feature you will love about the Bafang M620 mid-drive electric bike motor is its torque. This motor can deliver up to 160 Nm of maximum torque. Remember, eBike torque is a measure of the rotational force at the wheels of your electric bike, which allows your eBike to accelerate. Therefore, when your eBike torque is high, your electric bike will likely accelerate faster than a lower-torque electric bike. Because of its impressive combination of high torque and power, the Bafang M620 eBike motor is ideally used in eSpeed, eTandems, eCargo, and eFat bikes, as well as high-end eMTBs. This motor performs well in almost all types of terrain and different riding conditions. In addition, it can help an eBike with a heavy load accelerate well, even when going up a steep incline. • Bafang M620 mid-drive electric bike motor has a dual-sensor system design. It is integrated with speed and torque sensors, making the motor incredibly responsive. Hence, it gives the rider complete control over the electric bike, which can make your riding adventure much more enjoyable.

  • The Bafang M620 mid-drive electric bike motor is rated IP X5. This means that this motor can withstand low-pressure water jets in all directions and moderate rain. So, unless wholly soaked with water, this eBike motor will provide an impressive performance. Remember, maintenance and usage can significantly affect the overall lifespan of eBike motors.

  • Bafang M620 is a mid-drive motor. The location itself is an advantage because it allows better weight distribution throughout your electric bike, providing more balance, stability, and maneuverability. Furthermore, mid-drive motors are more efficient than hub-drive eBike motors. You can read our article “Hub Motor Vs. Mid-Drive Motor (The Real Difference)” to learn the differences between the two.

  • This mid-drive electric bike motor is manufactured by Bafang, one of the best eBike motor manufacturers in the world. Bafang has been in the market for almost two decades. It was founded in 2003 and has proved that its electric bike motors are highly reliable and efficient. Hence, you will never be disappointed with its overall performance.

  • Another incredible feature of this electric bike motor is its option for an eBrake. The eBrake, also referred to as the emergency brake, enables your electric bike to become unmoving and steady when parked. This could serve as an extra safety feature for the rider and everyone around the eBike.

Cons of Bafang M620 Mid-Drive eBike Motor

  • One of the disadvantages of the Bafang M620 mid-drive electric bike motor is its weight. This Bafang eBike motor is relatively heavy, weighing about 11.7 lbs (5.3 kg). This adds to the overall weight of your electric bike, making it heavier. As a result, you might have difficulty carrying it or pedaling if you decide to ride your eBike just like an ordinary bicycle without a motor assist.

  • If you are sensitive to the noise levels that an electric bike motor generates, then this motor may not be the best for you. The motor makes noise, but it’s not too loud. It creates less than 55dB, which is comparable to the noise you hear in a normal conversation at a distance of 3.28 ft (1 meter). Furthermore, the noise the Bafang M620 mid-drive motor creates does not significantly affect its overall performance and efficiency. So, if you do not mind a little noise, you will enjoy your ride!
